The Atkins diet is a diet low in carbohydrates known created by Dr. Robert Atkins, who was overweight. He made this diet popular in a series of books beginning with the Dr. Atkins Diet Revolution, which was published in 1972. Franchising Atkins, who promoted his diet, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2005, two years after his death . But the company has reorganized and is still connected to buy food and Atkinsproducts.
So what is the Atkins diet that has proved so popular? According to Atkins, refined carbohydrates, especially sugar and flour are the main cause of obesity.
